IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE

If you give a mouse a cookie

He’s going to ask for a glass of milk

When you give him the milk

He’ll probably ask you for a straw

When he’s finished he’ll ask for a napkin

Then he’ll want to look in the mirror

To make sure he doesn’t have a milk moustache

He might notice his hair needs a trim

So he’ll probably ask for a pair of nail scissors

When he’s finished giving himself a trim

He’ll want a broom to sweep up

He’ll start sweeping

He might get carried away and sweep every room in the house

He may even end up washing the floors as well

When he’s done he’ll probably want to take a nap

You’ll have to fix up a little box for him with a blanket and a pillow

He’ll crawl in make himself comfortable

And fluff the pillows a few times

He’ll probably ask you to read him a story

So you’ll read him one from your books

And he’ll ask to see the pictures

When he looks at the pictures he’ll get so excited

He’ll want to draw one of his own

He’ll ask for paper and crayons

He’ll draw a picture

He’ll want to sign his name with a pen

He’ll want to hang his picture on your refrigerator

Which means he’ll need sticky tape

He’ll hang up his drawing

And stand back to look at it

Looking at the refrigerator will remind him that he’s thirsty

So he’ll ask for a glass of milk

And chances are if he asks for a glass of milk

He’s going to want a cookie to go with it

THE QUEEN’S DAY OFF

The Queen looked in her diary

There was nothing at all to do

“I’ll take the day off.” she said

“And so can all of you.”

The Queen threw off her crown

Her jewels and royal frock

She put on her jeans

T-shirt jumper and socks

Then she slid down the bannister

On to the floor

It was so much fun

That she did it twice more !

She went to the park and cycled a bit

Looking for somewhere comfy to sit

She had an ice cream

And a nice sticky bun

A lolly, some popcorn

And said “This is fun !”

She slid on a slide

And swung on a swing

Then threaded some daisies

Into a ring

She waved to new friends

And as it got dark

She danced on her tiptoes

All through the park

Next morning the Queen said

“I did have such fun.”

Then she put on her crown

There was work to be done !

THE ENORMOUS TURNIP

There’s a great big turnip

At the bottom of the field

I’ll get it

See my muscles!

I pushed and pulled

But I couldn’t get it out

I pushed and I pulled

And gave a little shout

Come here wife !

How’s your muscles ?

My wife came up

But she couldn’t get it out

We pushed and pulled

And we gave a little shout

Come here girl !

How’s your muscles ?

The girl came up

But she couldn’t get it out

We pushed and pulled

And we gave a little shout

Come here boy !

How’s your muscles ?

The boy came up

But he couldn’t get it out

We pushed  and pulled

And we gave a little shout

Come here dog !

How’s your muscles ?

The dog came up

But he couldn’t get it out

We pushed and pulled

And we gave a little shout

Come here cat !

How’s your muscles ?

The cat came up

But she couldn’t get it out

We pushed and pulled

And we gave  a little shout

Come here mouse !

How’s your muscles ?

The mouse came up

And pulled it out

HOORAY !

We patted him on the back

And we gave a little shout

Well done mouse !

Great muscles ! Continue reading THE ENORMOUS TURNIP
